Three Hours, Two Kids, One Unforgettable First.
The brief: two kids (seven and ten), zero patience, and parents who hadn't fished since college. No boat, no pressure — just our private lake dock, an evening of bobbers and bluegill, and a guide whose only job was keeping rods bent and moods high.
The seven-year-old caught her first fish eleven minutes in and announced it to the entire lake. By sunset the tally was forgotten, the snacks were gone, and both kids were asking when they could come back. That's the whole game.

How It Unfolded
The Challenge
Short attention spans, zero experience, and a sunset deadline. The fish had to cooperate fast — so we picked the lake's most reliable dock.
The Approach
Bobbers for instant feedback, a casting game between bites, and the guide handling every hook, tangle, and release. Parents just watched and cheered.
The Gear
Five-foot light rods, slip bobbers, and garden worms — plus a backup rod rigged at all times, because kids break things joyfully.
The Outcome
A first fish, a second fish, a lost one that became legend, and two kids who now correct their parents' casting. Mission accomplished.
