The Fish Of The Season Before 9 AM.
A father-and-son pair booked a standard dawn half-day. Danny had watched a tide line stack bait along the same flat three mornings running — so we skipped the usual first stop and poled straight to it in the dark.
First cast at legal light drew a boil. The son, fourteen, made the cast of his young life on his third try. What followed was ten heart-pounding minutes, a careful release, and a photo that now hangs in the shop. The rest of the morning was gravy: steady trout on popping corks until the wind came up.
